The Ghana Association for Radiation Protection (GARP) is set to organise the maiden edition of its Radiation Protection Week from 5th to 9th October 2026, under the theme: “Radiation Safety: Protecting the Public, Patients, Workers and the Environment.”

The week-long celebration will feature a series of virtual and in-person activities aimed at promoting awareness and strengthening commitment to radiation safety and protection in Ghana.

The virtual launch of the event will take place at 10:00 a.m. GMT on Monday, 5th October 2026, via Microsoft Teams. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Bernard Le Guen, an Executive Officer of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA).

Other activities lined up for the week include a Symposium on Non-Ionising Radiation on Wednesday, 7th October 2026, to be held at the Conference Room of the School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences (SNAS), Atomic, Accra. The programme will also feature a sensitisation walk to raise public awareness and a members’ social event on Friday, 9th October 2026.

Through these activities, GARP seeks to promote greater public understanding of radiation safety and highlight the importance of protecting people and the environment from the potential risks associated with radiation.
